What You Should Know About Microwave Oven protection

There have been rumors going around for a long time that microwave ovens and using them are unsafe.  However, most people's concerns aren't based in reality.  No one has yet shown a association in the middle of cancer or any other condition and a microwave oven.  Even the first study, in the late 1980s, which caused the majority of worries didn't conclude that microwaves were dangerous.

No condition Dangers
No one has ever contracted a hazardous condition from exposure to microwaves.  Microwave radiation is undoubtedly non-ionizing.  Unlike X-rays and other radiation that can cause cancer, which are ionizing radiation, microwaves are harmless.  Of course, while the radiation isn't a risk, you should still be faithful using your microwave.  Just like every other cooking method, there are a few dangers to microwaving.

Microwave Oven

Heating liquids in a smooth walled container with a microwave can cause superheating.  This causes these liquids to get to a climatic characteristic above boiling without undoubtedly entering a boil.  As soon as you disturb the liquid, by adding something to it or even tantalizing the container, it begins to boil rapidly and violently.  In some cases, a burst of water and steam can erupt from the container, burning unsuspecting cooks.  Some population say this only happens with distilled water, but superheating undoubtedly happens with most liquids in a microwave.

Be Sure containers are Vented
Liquids aren't the only foods that can be hazardous in a microwave.  If a food is in a container that's not properly vented, or it has a skin or shell, it can undoubtedly explode inside the microwave oven.  Steam builds up and has no way to escape.  Eventually, the pressure seeks the best way out, causing the food to burst or the container to open.  This can make a big mess and cause burns.  If you heat a food for a very long duration of time in a microwave, it can even catch on fire.

Don't Put Metal in a Microwave Oven
Most population have heard that it's not safe to put metal in a microwave oven, but they might not know why.  Metal can cause electrical arcs or sparks, since the metal resonates.  This creates an electrical charge.  While we all know to to put a fork or knife in the microwave, other objects can be a problem, too.  A takeout box with a metal deal with or a twist tie with an internal wire could be the source of a fire!

Never Run a Microwave Empty
Never use a microwave without something in it to absorb the radiation.  Otherwise, the microwaves could continue reflecting back and forth in the middle of the tube and cooking chamber, forming a standing wave and burning out the machine.  You should also never microwave food that's been dehydrated or which is wrapped in foil.  These materials reflect the wave and cause damage to the oven.

If foods are arranged incorrectly, they may arc.  For instance, microwaved grapes could cause a spark, as can fire within the microwave.  Never put a burning object in the microwave or allow a fire to burn inside.  All foods should be handled with care, even if they don't look hot, to preclude burns.

If you're faithful with your microwave, it'll be easy to cook tasty food with it safely.  It's just that, like any other cooking method, you have to treat your microwave respectfully and with care.
