It should be kept far away from a heat source, for e.g. Don't setup it above the burners. You can mount it on the wall, keep in on the countertop or tuck it out of sight in a cabinet. Make sure the door can swing open without hindrance and it can be cleaned easily. In case you have children, place it on a higher level if you don't want them to use it or within their reach if they would be using it frequently.
As with all electrical appliances that are used frequently, like your television, it is great to give the microwave oven its own plug and not use a multi-socket or an postponement cord. Make sure that the plug of the microwave fits the electrical socket exactly. This is where you may want to give your electrician or handyman a call, to ensure that the wiring is done safely and properly.
